With the looming crest of the Red River and the possibility of an all time record river level, volunteers have showed up in masses to fight the water. Officials have indicated that the goal of 2,000,000 sandbags is in site, with 450,000 being filled on March 23rd. Tens of thousands of volunteers, including young adults from local middle schools, high schools, and colleges from as far as St. Paul have worked tirelessly to bring flood protection walls to near completion. This showcase of civic duty has reassured the community that we will be stronger after the flood than before.
